Our summer will be filled with stories, crafts, and movies for kids. Don't forget to sign up for the reading incentive program at any of our three libraries to get prizes for reading!

Reading Incentives for ages 3-12
Children ages 3-12 can sign up for our reading incentive program this summer. Sign up at any county library between June 7 and August 2. You will be given a reading log and instructions. FAMILY READERS: (children who don't yet read to themselves): Prizes are given after reading 20, 40, 60, and 80 books. INDEPENDENT READERS: prizes are given after 5 hours, 10 hours, 15 hours and 20 hours of reading. Kids who complete 20 hours of reading will get a ticket for themselves and a friend to our special End of Summer Celebration!!

Catch the Bug! Make a bug box and nature journal to catch and learn about the bugs in your backyard! Tuesday, 6/10, 11:30 am, Granite Falls; Wednesday, 6/18, 2pm, Lenoir; Thursday, 7/10, 11:30am, Hudson.
Make a Bug! Express your creative side with bug crafts to make and take home. Tuesday, 6/17, 11:30am, Granite Falls; Wednesday, 7/9, 2pm, Lenoir; Thursday, 7/17, 11:30am, Hudson.

Stories, songs, and a firefly craft for the whole family.
Learn about Beekeeping - Saturday, June 28, 10am
Local beekeepers will teach us about the care and keeping of bees and collecting honey. Ages 6 and up.
Storyteller Donna Washington - Tuesday, July 8, 10am
Nationally known storyteller Donna Washington proves that storytelling isn't just for kids! All ages will enjoy her stories.
Catch the Poetry Bug! - Monday July 14, 10am ages 7-9, 2pm ages 10-12
Learn how much fun writing poetry can be at this workshop, geared specifically for each age group. Registration required. Call 757-1274 after June 1 to register.
